Hospitals: availability across the full chain
In hospital environments, I have worked on infrastructure where users, applications and operations depend on a coherent platform. My experience includes VMware environments, VDI, stretched vSAN ESA, enterprise storage and the networking between sites and platform components.
Design and implementation are closely connected in these environments. A storage decision affects networking, a network decision affects failover behaviour and a migration affects daily service delivery. I bring those dependencies together in design decisions, technical coordination and implementation.
Examples include workload placement across sites, evaluating storage policies and capacity, redundant network paths and preparing validation and failover tests. I describe the nature of my experience without disclosing customer names, internal designs or confidential details.
Managed services: repeatability across environments
In managed services, I have worked on platforms maintained and developed by multiple engineers. Standardisation, lifecycle and handover matter: a solution needs to be understandable and maintainable by someone other than its original author.
Automation is an important part of this. My experience includes Ansible and automation platforms, automated deployment, image building with Packer and structuring recurring operational tasks. The starting point is a clear process with verifiable steps, responsibilities and failure handling.
Datacenter platforms: understanding the whole chain
Alongside VMware, I have experience with NetApp ONTAP and StorageGRID, Pure storage, and Dell and Cisco infrastructure. Foundation services such as AD, DNS, DHCP and PKI, SQL high availability and monitoring also form part of the wider environment.
This breadth helps me look beyond the component where an issue becomes visible. A slow workload, a failed connection or a fragile migration often requires understanding several layers at once. I connect those layers before proposing a solution.
Product Ownership and technical direction
As Product Owner for Hybrid Cloud/Datacenter, I also worked on direction, priorities and the connection between engineering, architecture and operations. Technical improvements need to be balanced with ongoing services, available capacity and dependencies.
I bring that experience to engagements where a team needs clarity and a workable sequence. I can support technical decisions, define the scope of work and help establish what must happen first to take the next step responsibly.
