Technical depth with a view of the whole environment
I am Robert de Rooij. My background is in engineering, while my greatest contribution increasingly lies in understanding the whole environment. How do platforms, networking, storage, operations and people connect? Which decision addresses the real problem? And what does it take to implement it?
My career developed from engineer to Senior Engineer, Technical Expert and Product Owner for Hybrid Cloud/Datacenter. That gives me experience with both technical detail and the decisions needed to move a platform forward. Through RDR IT Consultancy, I now bring that combination as an independent consultant.
Where I make a difference
Understanding an existing environment, designing a new platform or bringing direction to a stalled initiative starts with its dependencies. I ask questions, make those dependencies visible and help distinguish immediate priorities from work that can follow later.
My experience includes hospital infrastructure, managed services and enterprise datacenters. These are environments where availability, handover and maintainability influence design decisions from the start. Networking is one of my strongest disciplines, closely connected to VMware platforms, storage and automation.
From a question to an executable approach
We first discuss your situation and the support you need. I then establish the technical context and constraints. The outcome may be a design review, HLD or LLD, a migration plan, technical direction or support within your team.
I like to remain involved in implementation. A design creates value when engineers can use it, operations understands its decisions and the platform can be tested against its intended behaviour.
